Just before the global pandemic hit Canada, this is what we were up to.
After bringing the live concert version of The Great Human Odyssey to the stage in 2016, the team spent the past year reimagining their series Equus – Story of the Horse as a feature-length live performance. Working with composer Darren Fung, filmmaker Niobe Thompson, and technical wizard Harrison Lee, in partnership with The Arts Firm and the Canadian Council for the Arts, they created a seamless presentation bringing the screening, live narration, and a symphony orchestra together in one harmonious spectacle. In late March, they ran their final workshop with members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at the Glenn Gould Studio, one week before the World Premiere with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the Winspear Centre…
…which was cancelled.
The tour is planned to restart next year, with a performance with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra in November 2021. The team looks forward to a day when audiences can gather in a performance hall together again.
